Preschool classes for 4-year olds meet five days per week at the district elementary schools following the school calendar. Children must be 4 years old by September 1st of the school year. Our focus is to provide your child with high quality and engaging learning experience to prepare him or her for kindergarten.
In late May we received Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK) funding from the Minnesota Legislature to support our 4-Year Old Preschool class sessions. This allowed us to adjust our 2019-2020 school year offerings from what was previously planned. Our team worked diligently to review all previous applications and assign each student's placement. Letters were mailed to enrolled families to confirm placements.
Our programs follow the Minnesota Early Childhood Indicators of Progress and have been awarded a 4-Star Parent Aware rating.
NEW APPLICATIONS are welcome for Preschool Programs on an ongoing basis and will be placed in class openings or on a wait list in the order received.

Parent & Child Classes Birth - 5yrs
Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) is a parent education program where parents and children attend class together and also separate for part of the time. Have fun learning with other parents and discussing ages and stages of child development with licensed early childhood and parent education teachers. Payment is based on a sliding fee scale. No families will be turned away due to inability to pay. Classes are held at the Central Education Center or at other locations in Richfield.
Family events and activities are also available as a fun and affordable way to explore and experience the community and meet other families.
